Stithians
Families II
A Cornish Community Author:
Edward A. Martin
Copyright: 2009
Description:
Much sought after and
hard to find in print form, the author Mr. Edward Martin has agreed to
release his indispensable work on CD. The CD is faithful to the original
and additionally is fully searchable for any word, not just indexed words.
157 pages with detailed maps, family trees and colour Coats of Arms. This is a companion to the above title
BB045 and also to BB044 The Martins Family of Stithians In Cornwall.
In
many parish histories the ordinary people occur as inconsequential extras:
mere names that are subordinate to grander themes. In this book the author
has given the detailed histories of ten families that played an important
part in the society of one parish in western Cornwall. As well as
chronicling their lives, he has also attempted to look at their social
background, origins, interrelationships and ultimate dispersal around
the world.
It
is hoped that this work will be of interest not only to those who, like
the author, are descended from some of the families featured in the book,
but also to more general historians as an illustration of the human
element that went into the making of one Cornish community.
Surnames
covered in these detailed histories and genealogies are: ANDREW of Stithians,
COODE of Morval, COODE OF Menheniot, Breage & Sithney,
COODE of Stithians, COODE of Lansallos, Wendron & Sithney, KNUCKEY
of Stithians, OPPY of Redruth, Wendron & Stithians, PHILLIPS
of Perranarworthal & Stithians, POLSUE of Goran, POLZEW of
Goran, Gwennap & Stithians, POLSEW of Mevagissey, SARAH OF
St. Just-In-Roseland, St. Michael Penkivel & Stithians, TRELEASE
of Stithians, TREVENA of St. Gluvias & Stitians, TREWEEK
of Stithians, Truro, Lelant, Camborne & Penzance, TREWEEK of
Stithians & Gwennap, TREWEEK of Breage, TREWEEK of
Constantine & Redruth, VEALE of Gwennap & Stithians, WHITE
of Stithians, WILLIAMS of Stithians & Gwennap, WILLIAMS
of Stithians, & WINSOR of St. Gluvias, Wendron & Stithians. Of course many other surnames
married into these lines, so chances are if you have family from Stithians
you will want all three books.
*Note: The print facility
is not available on this CD due to copyright agreement.
Item: BB046 (If
you plan to purchase both Stithians Families and Stithians Families II;
